Rethinking Mission Today – An African look

5.00

In the African context, Interreligious Dialogue calls for the establishment of a genuine educational exchange between Western Christianity and African Religion. Christian Mission, still perceived as a charitable endeavor and influenced by devaluing hermeneutics, is urged to foster a dialogue in Africa similar to the dialogues between Christianity and Hinduism or Christianity and Islam. Christian Mission is compelled to divorce itself from the one-way mission concept and adopt the practice of two-way mission: from Africa to Europe and from Europe to Africa. This reciprocity should also extend to the understanding of the concept of God. Dr. theol. Kalamba-Nsapo illustrates this approach with several examples and concludes his reflection with an overview of the conditions necessary for a genuine Interreligious Dialogue in the African Context.
